How the credit economy works

Battle income scales with tier, damage dealt, spotting, tanking and the win — but costs scale faster: repairs, ammunition and consumables grow steeply into high tiers. The result is a deliberate design: tiers IX–X usually run a deficit without premium time, while tiers V–VIII (especially premium tanks) print money. Farming credits is simply spending your playtime where the margin is positive.

The best tiers for farming

  • Tier VIII premiums — the credit meta since 2011. High base income, strong tanks, comfortable gameplay. Two good battles out-earn ten bad tier X games.
  • Tier VI–VII regulars — excellent free alternative; low running costs forgiving of average games.
  • Tier IX — surprising sleeper: many tier IX tech tree tanks earn decently if you perform, and bonds from tier IX play sweeten it.
  • Avoid tier X for income — it is a credit sink by design; play it for fun and marks, not farming.

Best premium tanks for credits

Credit coefficient differs per tank. Safe all-time picks:

  • S-tier farmers: high-alpha heavies and comfortable mediums earn consistently regardless of matchmaking.
  • TDs with good pen — cheap standard ammo keeps costs down; avoid premium-spam tanks for farming.
  • Prefer tanks you perform in — your damage and win rate multiply the coefficient. A 55%-win-rate “weaker” tank out-farms a 45% meta pick.

See the dedicated best premium tanks for credits guide for specific recommendations.

Missions, events and boosts

  • Daily/weekly missions pay credits, boosters and equipment — the quiet backbone of a healthy balance.
  • Credit boosters (personal reserves) multiply battle income; pop them only for planned farming sessions, never randomly.
  • Battle pass and events shower participants with silver, crew books and equipment — finishing them is worth more than the entry grind feels.
  • Clan boosters add a flat income multiplier when your clan activates them; time your sessions accordingly.

Earn more by spending less

Half of credit management is cost discipline:

  • Stop full-gold loadouts in randoms. Load 20–40% premium shells as needed answers, not defaults — standard ammo with aimed weak spots costs a fraction (see the armor mechanics guide for where to aim).
  • Large repair kits are for module clusters, not every tracked moment; small kits suffice for most track repairs.
  • Automatic fire extinguishers only on fire-prone tanks; food on crew-training grinds only.
  • Sell duplicate equipment and unused consumables during sales, but keep rare reward equipment — it is not rebuyable.

A simple farming routine

  1. Play daily missions first (credits + boosters snowball).
  2. Farming block: 5–10 games in your best credit tank with a credit booster active.
  3. Progress block: grind tech tree tanks with daily doubles.
  4. Never buy a new tank until it can be fully equipped — see the equipment guide for fitting costs.

With this loop, most players sustain 1–2 tier X tanks comfortably and still bank millions per week toward the next purchase.
